President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday hosted Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamin Bin Hamad Al Thani at State House where various agreements were made.
Little known to many is that the Qatar delegation comprised of the high and mighty from the gulf nation.
The Emir is said to have been accompanied by more than 24 Billionaires from the Qatar government and business sector who held a private meeting with Kenyatta.
The delegation, according to sources privy to the meeting, held talks on several business related issues though they didn’t reach any major agreement.
Among the Billionaires included the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Qatar Airways Akbar al-Baker, the head of Qatar Development Bank Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa and the boss of Qatar Building Company which is involved in civil engineering Badir Abdulhameed Mustafoy.
According to a report by the Nation, also in the delegation was Chairman of the Qatar Chambers Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim, Ahmed Hamad al-Muhanadi of Pharmaceutical Industries and the President of HBK Holding construction firm, Sheikh Ali bin Hamad bin Khalid al-Thani.
The Emir was in the country for a one-day visit and together with President Kenyatta, graced a business forum in a Nairobi Hotel attended by 70 Kenyan and 40 Qatari businesspeople.
