Opposition Chief Raila Odinga is said to have entered into an agreement with Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi promising him to be the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential ticket.
Mudavadi’s presidential campaign secretariat, Godfrey Kanoti on Thursday exposed the deal that was reportedly agreed upon in 2016.
According to Kanoti, the agreement was that Mudavadi would be the Presidential candidate, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka his running mate while Odinga would be Prime Minister.
The ANC officials divulged that it was mainly for this reason that Mudavadi agreed to be part of NASA.
He further remarked that he hoped the agreement would be honoured ahead of the August 8 General Election.
“This was a gentleman’s agreement that was struck late last year and we expect that it will be honoured,” he asserted.
However, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) director of elections Junet Mohamed trashed the agreement describing it as “bar talk”.
“I do not think there is anything like that. Raila cannot make such a decision alone and if there is anything of that nature, it must be bar talk,” he said.
Leaders from Wiper party also distanced themselves from the deal stating that Musyoka was not aware of such an arrangement.
NASA is yet to announce their flag bearer who will face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming elections.
